BMW has launched the range topping M50d variant of the X7 SUV in India at a price of Rs. 1.63 crore ex showroom. While the rest of the X& variants are locally assembled at the Chennai plant, the M50d will be brought in as a CBU.
The BMW X7 M50d is powered by a 3.0 litre in line six cylinder quad turbo charged diesel engine that develops 400 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque. It goes from 0 to 100 kph in a claimed 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 250 kph. The engine is mated to an eight speed automatic gearbox that powers all four wheels via the xDrive all wheel drive system.
The exterior features different styling from the regular X7 variants. These include sporty front and rear bumpers, a tweaked rear diffuser, larger alloy wheels with blue brake callipers and black trims all around. On the interior, it comes with an M Sport steering wheel, M leather upholstery with contrast stitching and illuminated M door sills.
The feature list on the X7 M50d includes a 12.3 inch touch screen for the iDrive infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, gesture control, Bowers & Wilkins sound system, digital instrument cluster, LED Laser headlamps, three part panoramic sunroof, five zone climate controls and recline function for all three rows.
The BMW X7 M50d will rival the Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q8, Range Rover Sport and the soon to lauch new Mercedes-Benz GLS.
