BMW is all set to launch the X3 30d variant in India. This model will come with a 3.0 straight six diesel engine which puts out 255 bhp. While this motor was earlier offered in the X3, the facelift version launched last year came only with the 2.0 litre diesel engine. BMW will also add an M Sport kit to the 30d variant as standard, This kit will feature different bumpers, sporty alloy wheels and M badges on the exterior and the interior. This model will also come equipped with paddle shifters for the eight speed automatic gearbox.
This X3 model will also be the first to come with the locally assembled version of the 3.0 litre diesel engine. this particular engine is used in the 5 Series, 7 Series and the X5 SUV. Local assembly of the 2.0 litre diesel engine will also begin soon.
BMW sold less than 7000 cars last year as compared to Mercedes who pushed out 10,201 cars while Audi topped the sales charts with 10,851 units
