BMW 6GT 630d Engine and Performance

The BMW 6GT 630d is powered by the same 3.0 six-cylinder turbo diesel engine that does duty in the 530d sedan. It puts out 265 horsepower and 620 Nm of maximum torque. BMW claims a 0 to 100 kph time of 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 250 kph (limited). The motor is pretty audible at idle and low speed but smoothens out as you pick up the pace. What I love about this engine is the punch it gives right from the word go. The mid range is strong and the car pulls relentlessly towards the redline. And the engine note actually gets nicer as you climb the revs. The eight speed automatic gearbox has quick shifts and there are 3 driving modes: Eco, Comfort and Sport. Eco works well in city traffic, Comfort is great if you are travelling in the back seat while Sport is best when you are at the wheel. These modes can be customized while there is an Adaptive mode where the car alters itself according to the driving conditions. One can also shift manually via steering mounted paddle shifters.

BMW 6GT 630d Handling and Safety

The 6GT features air suspension and ride quality is fantastic despite the low profile tyres and 19 inch alloys on the M Sport. You can also raise the suspension via a button, which is useful while going over speed breakers due to the car’s long wheel base. As like all BMWs, the 6GT is super fun to drive. The steering responds well to inputs and is well weighted. Grip levels are fantastic too. Body roll is well under control around corners despite the size and braking is excellent as well.

Safety features on the BMW 6GT 630d include 6 airbags, ABS, Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control, ISOFIX and Attentiveness Assistant.
