Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the S-Class Cabriolet at the Auto Expo 2016. It is expected to launch in India later this year.
The S 500 Cabriolet is the sixth variant of the current gen S-Class and the company’s first four seater convertible since 1971. Power comes from a 4.7 litre V8 petrol engine that develops 455 horsepower and 700 Nm torque that comes from 1800 rpm. It gets AIRMATIC semi active air suspension that features variable damping control.
Other features include roll over protection behind the rear headrests that feature pyrotechnic initiation of actuators for the first time. The roll bars also move into position via a gas generator. The soft top of the S-Class Cabriolet can be opened and closed in around 20 seconds and at speeds of upto 60 kph.
The S-Class Cabriolet will be sold as a completely imported CBU when it gets launched on Indian shores.
Mercedes-Benz has displayed 12 products at the Auto Expo 2016 that include the G 500 4×4², Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard and the Mercedes-AMG W04 Formula 1 car.
