Jeep has showcased the Grand Cherokee SRT at the Auto Expo 2016 and will go on sale mid 2016.
The Grand Cherokee SRT is the performance version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and part of the Street and Racing Technology portfolio. It gets distinctive headlights with a blacked out facia and gloss black front grille. It is longer and wider than the stock model but sits shorter in height. It comes equipped with stiffer springs, anti roll bars and cambered wheels at the front and the rear. It is shod with 20 inch “Goliath” polished aluminium alloy wheels with wider tyres. The SRT comes with a race inspired interior. It features Laguna leather upholstery, leather wrapped steering with paddle shifters and SRT logo and 19 speaker Harman Kardon sound system with noise cancellation. A monster of a 6.4 litre HEMI V8 powers the Grand Cherokee SRT. This motor develops 470 horsepower and is mated to an eight speed automatic gearbox. It features a Quadra-Trac Active On-Demand 4WD system. It can go to a top speed of 258 kph and also comes with Launch Control. Stopping powere comes from a Brembo high performance braking system. The SRT also comes with fuel saving technology.
The Grand Cherokee SRT comes with a host of safety features that include multistage driver and front-passenger airbags and supplemental side-curtain airbags. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) coordinates Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM).The Antilock Brake System (ABS), Brake Assist, All-Speed Traction Control and Trailer Sway Control (TSC).
The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be sold as a fully imported CBU and will be sold though select dealers in major metro cities and later in tier 1 cities as well.
