Audi is set to have an impressive display of cars at the Auto Expo 2016 that begins in a couple of days time. The car maker lost out the number 1 position to Mercedes-Benz at the end of 2015 and is will looking to fight back this year.
Autocar India magazine has revealed that Audi will be displaying the new A4 at the Auto Expo. The A4 sedan has been very popular in in India but the B8 has been around on Indian shores for a long time. The replacement, although similar looking to the out going model, is all new and is bigger, lighter and more luxurious. It is expected to come with better engines and technology as well. It will rival the Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3 Series, Volvo S60 and the soon to launch Jaguar XE.
The second generation Audi R8 will also make its way to the Auto Expo. Styling wise, it looks similar to the older model It gets a new grille and LED head lamps while Audi will also offer laser headlights that use a laser-guided spot lamp for the high beams. It will also get dynamic turn signals.Power comes from an upgraded version of the 5.2 litre naturally aspirated V10 engine that is shared with the Lamborghini Huracan. In standard form the engine puts out 532 bhp while the top of the line Plus variant puts out 601 bhp. The motor is mated to a 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox which has been worked on to adopt an auto start stop function.
The Audi A8 L Security luxo barge will give company to the R8 at the Auto Expo. It comes equipped with the highest VR 9 level ballistics protection as per the latest ERV 2010 guidelines for its occupants. It can withstand 7.62x51mm rifle rounds among other weaponry on multiple areas of the body from various angles. Power comes from a 4.0 litre V8 developing 435 bhp and a 6.0 litre V12 putting out 500 bhp. The A8 L Security will rival the Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard and the BMW 760Li High Security.
Audi is known to bring some fascinating concepts to the Expo and this time, the company will showcase the Prologue All Road Concept that was unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show last year. The Allroad concept is 5.13 metres long, has a long bonnet, a sloping coupe style roof line and flat D pillars. It gets the matrix laser headlights and all LED tail lights. It comes shod with 22 inch alloy wheels. The Prologue Allroad concept is a hybrid and is powered by a 4.0-litre TFSI petrol engine with two turbochargers and an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed tiptronic transmission. The total power output is 734 horsepower and 900 Nm of maximum torque. It does the 0 to 00 kph sprint in 3.5 seconds. The car comes equipped with Audi’s all wheel drive quattro system.
