Audi’s Q SUVs have been very popular in India ever since the first Q7 set foot onto our soil. Next came the mid size Q5 and eventually the baby of them all, the Q3. The Q3 with its smaller dimensions suits our crowded roads and that’s the reason why it has found much love with the SUV loving Indian car buyer. Launched in 2012, the Q3 has been soldiering along strongly with the car maker giving it regular updates over time with the last one coming in 2015. The Q3 has again received a refresh last year which is not only cosmetic but there are changes under hood as well.
Audi Q3 35TDI quattro Overview and Exterior
The 1.4 litre TFSI petrol engine that does duty in the new A4 and facelift A3 sedan now makes it way into the Q3 as well. The 30TFSI variant develops 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox that powers the front wheels. The 2.0 litre diesel is now available in two states of tune. In the 30TDI, the motor makes 150 horsepower and 340 Nm of max torque. A 7 speed dual clutch auto box sends power to the front wheel. In the top of the line 35TDI, the same engine develops 184 horsepower and 380 Nm. This is the only variant that gets Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system. Like the 30TDI, this one also features a 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.
The exterior gets subtle updates to what is already a good looking design. There is a reworked front bumper that gets larger faux air dams with additional plastic cladding. There are streaks on the door cladding as well that add more character to the SUV look. There are new 17 inch alloy wheels along with standard LED headlamps and tail lamps. The Q3 now gets the trademark Audi dynamic turn indicators which look supercool.
