German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz has added another model to its range of armoured vehicles. This is the 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Guard.
The Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Guard offers VR9 levels of protection. The protection levels are based on that of the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard. Protective components of special steel are integrated into the cavities between the body structure and the outer skin. It features special aramid and PE components along with polycarbonate coating for the windows for splinter protection. The rear window has not been armoured, but rather a steel bulkhead positioned behind the seats which secures the head area of the passengers. Floor armouring covers relevant areas of the underbody and is certified for blast resistance in accordance with Directive ERV 2010. The car is 6.5 metres long and weighs 5.1 tonnes. The rear doors gets power assisted opening and closing feature. An electric motor increases the manual force applied. As a result, the large and, due to their armouring, heavy doors are convenient to open and close.
Other customizable options on the Pullman Guard include sirens, flashing lamps, two way radios, emergency starter button and external communication system (loudspeaker/microphone).
On the interior, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman comes with all the creature comforts of a super luxury saloon. The backrest of the exexutive seats is adjusted separately while the footwell and seat reference point remain unchanged. The cushion can be adjusted separately, while the seat angle and height adjustment are combined. The maximum backrest angle is 43.5 degrees. The most upright backrest position of 19 degrees allows relaxed working in the rear. The reclining seats feature a calf support, which is freely adjustable for length and angle. As standard, the luxury head restraints come with an extra cushion. The two first-class travellers in the rear enjoy the largest legroom of any car in the segment, as well as 60 millimetres more headroom than in a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
The window in the partition wall can be lowered electrically. It can also change from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button. The Pullman Guard is powered by a 6.0 V12 petrol engine that develops 530 horsepower with 830 Nm torque. The car has an electronically limited top speed of 160 kph.
The first customer cars will be delivered in the second half of 2017.
