Jaguar has announced the opening of bookings for the new XE sedan in India. The entry level Leaping Cat will rival the Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 an the Volvo S60 in the Indian market.
The Jaguar XE for India will be offered in petrol guise only. Power will come from a 2.0 litre petrol motor that will be offered in two states of tune: 197 bhp and 237 bhp. The engine will be mated to a six speed and eight speed automatic gearbox.
The Jaguar XE features an aluminium intensive monocoque construction. Features on the XE include Torque Vectoring by Braking, All Surface Progress Control (ASPC), Softgrain Windsor Leather Seats, Panoramic Sliding Sunroof, Interior Mood Lighting, Navigation System, 380 Watts Meridian Sound System and Surround Camera System.
Jaguar will launch the XE on February 3, 2016 at the Auto Expo. The company is likely to produce the sedan locally at JLR India’s Pune facility.
