Mercedes Benz S600 S-Guard launched in India at Rs. 8.9 crore
Mercedes Benz India has launched the S600 S-Guard in India at Rs. 8.9 crore Ex Showroom Delhi. This is the the third Guard vehicle to be launched in India after the E-Guard and the M-Guard.
The S 600 Guard comes with the high level of armoured protection. It offers VR9-level ballistics protection to its occupants. This means that the car can withstand 7.62x51mm rifle rounds from various angles on the cars body panels. It comes with protective components milled from special steel in various cavities between the body structure and outer shell. It uses heat-resistant synthetic fibres to protect occupants from projectiles.
The windows of the car feature thick laminated glass with polycarbonate coating which provide better ballistic protection. The underbody of the S 600 Guard is also armoured to protect occupants from explosives. Other equipment includes opaque roller blinds in the rear, panic alarm system, fire extinguisher with automatic activation, heated windshield and windows, emergency fresh air system to protect occupants from smoke or gases, hydraulic power for side windows, gimbal LED reading lamps and a special cooling compartment in the rear. The car is available in a 4 seater or 5 seater layout and has a boot capacity of 350 litres.
The S600 Guard is powered by a 6.0 litre V12 petrol engine that puts out 530 horsepower and 830 Nm torque. Top speed is restricted to 210 kph. The engine is mated to a 7G-TRONIC automatic gearbox. The brakes of the S-Guard are larger than those of the standard model to handle the extra weight. Larger six piston brake callipers and larger brake discs are used at the front. The rear brakes are also larger than those seen in the standard car. The S-Guard is fitted with Michelin PAX run flat tyres as standard with an additional tyre monitoring system. which allows escape from a danger zone up to a distance of 30 kms on damaged tyres.
Mercedes has already received pre bookings for the S-Guard even before launch. The S-Guard can be serviced or repaired at any Mercedes Benz service centre world wide.
