It has been doing the rounds for quite a while now, but finally its here. The Hyundai Alcazar, the car maker’s latest addition to it SUV portfolio in India. It shares it DNA with the Creta, and while it might seem like just an extended version of Hyundai’s highly successful SUV, there’s more to the Alcazar than what meets the eye. Can it follow in the footsteps of the Creta and be a hit? Hyundai says it already has 4,000 booking so the beginning seems right. But how good is it? Read on.
Hyundai Alcazar Exterior
First up the dimensions. The Alcazar is 200 mm longer and 40 mm taller than the its stable mate, the Creta. The wheelbase is also up by 150 mm and even the ground clearance has been increased by 10 mm. The front grille is bold and comes with chrome blocks (the Creta gets slats), while extending into the headlamps which are all LED units. LED fog lamps are enclosed in chrome housings, and there is a scuff plate as well. The Alcazar looks proportionate from the side too. What I really like is the design of the 18 inch diamond cut alloy wheels. There is body cladding and the C pillar id also quite thick. This is also where you notice the higher roofline. There are side steps which makes ingress and egress easier. The rear looks like a conventional SUV and not as polarizing as the Creta. The tail lamps are new and are joined together by a chrome strip flashing the Alcazar lettering. The rear bumper is also slightly redesigned and gets a scuff plate. Overall the Alcazar has a neutral design that will offend no one.
