Skoda, the renowned Czech car manufacturer, has announced the restart of production at the Aurangabad plant. In order to ensure the safety of the workers in the plant, the company has resumed production in a single shift and will be taking a number of precautionary steps to prevent the spread of this Covid-19 virus. This plant has will be responsible for the production of the Superb facelift model which shall join the Karoq SUV and 1-litre turbo petrol-powered Rapid for the launch on May 26th.
Apart from frequent clean and sanitisation, the company has also set up touch-free sanitisers, along with awareness sessions for employees to battle the virus. Consulting medical experts, the company has also prepared a sixty step standard operating procedure. Moreover, steps like compulsory usage of gloves, restricted tool sharing and creation distance markers on the floor will further keep the employees safe. Finally, the use of Arogya Sethu app and circulation of emergency contacts is another step taken by the company for safety.
Additionally, pregnant women and employees with major health problems have been given an extended work from home option. The company has also announced that it will resume operations at the Chakan plant as well, from the 1st of June. The Chakan plant would be responsible for the production of other cars, including the new Rapid from Skoda and the likes of the new BS6 compliant Polo and Vento from sister company Volkswagen.
