Autonomous Tata Hexa begins trial runs in the UK
The UK Autodrive project has begun testing of autonomous cars in the city of Coventry in the United Kingdom for the very first time.
The car makers who are participating in this project include Jaguar Land Rover, Ford and Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC). The cars donated for the trials include a Range Rover Sport, Jaguar F-Pace, Ford Mondeo and a Tata Hexa.
These trial runs are being conducted to explore how effectively these cars will be able to “talk” to each other including surroundings like traffic lights, road obstacles emergency braking etc. There are plans to expand to the city of Milton Keynes in early 2018 with more demonstrations slated for the second half of next year.
TMETC has also been instrumental in the development of the Tata Tiago EV that was revealed in September this year.
