Mercedes-AMG Project One revealed at Frankfurt Motor Show
The Mercedes-AMG Project One has finally broken cover at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. It is termed to be the first ever road legal car with a Formula 1 engine.
Mercedes-AMG Project One Engine
The Mercedes-AMG Project One comes with a 1.6 litre V6 petrol engine and four electric motors. The whole hybrid system is a reworked version of what is seen in the W08 F1 car. There are two electric motors up front, one integrated into the turbo charger and the fourth is mounted onto the V6 engine.
The front electric motors can rev up to a whopping 50,000 rpm. These two motors develop 160 horsepower each, the third makes 160 horsepower and the fourth one churns out 120 horses. The total power output is over 1000 horses. The Project One has a top speed of over 350 kph and can go from 0 to 200 kph in a mind numbing 6 seconds.
It ha a full electric range off 25 kms and a d rive system that operates with 800 volts. The Project One gets an all new eight speed AMT gearbox that has been specially developed for the Project One. The transmission has both auto and manual modes and come with paddle shifters. It also gets all wheel drive with torque vectoring and a lithium-ion battery pack that uses the same cells, arrangement and cell cooling system with the Mercedes-AMG F1 car.
