The 2018 Porsche Cayenne has been officially revealed ahead of its debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. The company says that the new model is more 911 than ever before.

The 2018 Porsche Cayenne looks like an evolution of the previous generation model. The front wears the familar face that we are used to and there are all new LED headlamps. It gets a lower roof line along with new tail lamps and larger alloy wheels.  It is lighter by 65 kgs thanks to the use of extensive aluminium in its construction. It is based on the latest MLB architecture that also underpins the Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga.

The new Cayenne measures 4918 mm in length, 1983 mm in width and 1694 mm in height.

The interior of the 2018 Cayenne is all new and a huge upgrade over its predecessor. There is a new centre console along with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It gets a new three spoke steering wheel, a new instrument cluster that comprises of an analogue tachometer and two 7 inch displays. For the music aficionados, Porsche offers the choice of a Burmester or Bose sound system. It also gets a larger boot with a capacity of 770 litres.

Coming to the engines, the 2018 Cayenne will get a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that produces 340 horses and 450 Nm of torque. With the Sport Chrono package, it can go from 0 to 100 kph in 5.9 seconds. The Cayenne S will feature a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 with 440 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. It will do the 0 to 100 kph in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 265 kph. A plug-in hybrid and turbo are expected later.

The new Cayenne features an eight speed automatic gearbox and all wheel drive. The optional Sport Chrono Package comes with four modes: Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual.  It also gets rear wheel steering as an option.

Expect the 2018 Porsche Cayenne to hit Indian shores sometime next year.
