Waking up at 4 am is not usually the way you want to start a long weekend. But there I was, up and on my way to the airport at that very time. There would have to be a very good reason for doing so right? Just two words should answer that question.. Track Day!! Indeed, I was flying to Coimbatore to drive the newest Volvo to be launched in India, the S60 Polestar. Polestar is the performance brand of the Swedish car maker, so essentially it is what AMG is to Mercedes, M to BMW and the likes. We got a chance to take this fast Swede for a few hot laps at the Kari Motor Speedway on a very hot Friday afternoon. How does it look? Well, like an S60, but that’s where the similarities end. The S60 Polestar gets 70 upgrades over the standard car. There is a more aggressive looking front bumper with a front splitter, the rear bumper is equally sporty and features a rear diffuser finished in black along with dual exhaust pipes. A prominent rear spoiler is mounted on the boot. There is more black treatment given to the ORVMs, the front grille and the window trims. The signature Rebel Blue Polestar paint shade stands out on the S60, which already was a good looking car in the first place. You can also get your S60 Polestar in Onyx Black, but our choice would be this Blue itself. There are Polestar badges on the front grille and the boot and the Polestar logo is also featured on the exhausts. Super cool that. The 20 inch Polestar alloys add oodles of character and they come shod with 245/35ZR20 low profile Michelin rubber. Contd…
