Indians love their SUVs and how. The bigger the better is how we desis have looked at them. So it is no surprise that Porsche hit the jackpot with the Cayenne in India. The Cayenne is still the highest selling model for the car maker on our shores and has been a favourite with the Bollywood brigade as well. Porsche brought in the smaller Macan SUV to India just over a couple of years ago but could not replicate the success of it’s big brother. The major reason here was the price. The 1 crore rupee plus price tag for an SUV of this size did not cut it for the buyer. The car maker is now set to correct that with the introduction of the Porsche Macan R4. It comes with a four cylinder engine and mostly importantly a much lower price tag. So does a smaller motor take away the essence of a Porsche? We try to answer that question. The Macan does resemble the Cayenne in terms of looks and that’s not a bad thing at all. We are all now used to that familiar Porsche face. The standard bi xenon headlamps get four point LEDs look classy. The bonnet looks muscular and the front bumper houses slim DRLs along with the fog lights. The tiger claw style air vents on either side of the bumper look neat. This variant of the Macan comes with 18 inch alloys as standard. If you want something bigger, just put a tick park on the options list and you can go up to an upsize of 21 inch wheels. The sloping rear windshield is flanked by a roof mounted spoiler. The Porsche 911 inspired all LED tail lamps look classy and come with adaptive brake lights. The rear bumper features single exhaust pipes on either side finished in brushed steel.
