The Tata Tiago EV is a more calm and relaxed driving experience.
Tata Motors has been on a roll when it comes to the EV space. So far 50,000 EVs have rolled of the production line and that number will only grow. After two successes with the Nexon EV and the Tigor EV, Tata has now launched the Tiago EV. It is based on its ICE counterpart and is today the most affordable main stream EV launched at introductory prices between Rs. 8.49 lakh and Rs. 11.79 lakh. The number of booking also say it all. An EV hatch with a small footprint makes for a perfect city car doesn’t it? I was in sunny Goa to drive the Tata Tiago EV to see if it ticks all the right boxes.
Tata Tiago EV Exterior
Since the car is based on the regular Tiago as I mentioned earlier, the design remains largely unchanged. It does come with EV specific design elements. First up is the piano black panel in place of the grille which sports an EV badge. The humanity line that runs below the headlamps is blue and the air dam is also replaced by a panel featuring tri arrow design bits. While the Tiago EV is offered in 5 colours including a Plum shade, I quite liked the Tropical Mist colour of the test car. This along with the signature Teal Blue are exclusive to the Tiago EV. Thr front fenders also feature EV badging. You get 175 profile tyres mounted onto 14 inch steel wheels. There are no alloys on offer but the dual tone wheel caps resemble have a funky design and suit the character of the car. The rear gets a prominent TIAGO EV badging on the tail gate. The car gets an unladen ground clearance of 165 mm. This is 5 mm lower than the regular Tiago due the extra weight of the battery. Overall the Tiago EV is very pleasing to look at the colour palette available does add a zing of freshness.
