2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine & Performance
The Jeep Grand Cherokee in India gets a single engine option. It is powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo petrol motor good for 272 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. There is no diesel engine on offer. For the record the 4th gen model did come with a 6 pot diesel in India. Transmission duties are assigned to an 8 speed ZF automatic gearbox. Start driving and all the thoughts of this motor being underpowered are thrown out of the window. Sure its not super quick off the line but acceleration is linear and power builds up seamlessly. Engine refinement levels are also good despite being a four cylinder. The mid range is especially strong and once you build up speed, it makes for a quiet and effortless cruiser. The gearbox shifts are smooth and even overtaking is a breeze. There is only a bit lag at the lower revs. It also gets a Sport mode that livens things up a couple of notches. The Grand Cherokee gets the Quadra-Trac 4WD system and there are five terrain modes as part of the Selec-Terrain system : Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, Mud/Sand. I didn’t take it off-road but knowing its DNA, I have no doubt on its capabilities.
