Production of the 2021 Tata Safari has commenced at the Tata Motors Pune Plant. While the new flagship SUV is slated for an official reveal on January 26th later this month. Tata Motors has also released a few pictures of the model.
The new Tata Safari carries the Impact 2.0 Design language and is based on the OMEGARC architecture and gets a higher roof line just like the older Safari. The new Safari will come with three rows of seats and is overall longer than the Harrier that it share the underpinnings with. The interior of the Safari will feature an Oyster White theme along with an Ashwood dashboard. Most features will be carried over from the Harrier. However the Safari could come with Tata’s new iRA connected car technology.
The Safari will be powered by a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine developing 170 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The engine will come mated to either a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The Safari will be available on as w FWD currently but a 4×4 could be seen later in the future.
Once launched, the Tata Safari will go up against the MG Hector Plus, new gen Mahindra XUV500 and the Toyota Innova Crysta in the Indian market.
