Undisguised pictures of the all new 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class have surfaced online. The new S-Class has been undergoing testing for a while now and only full camouflaged test mules were spotted till date. These are first pictures of the actual production version.
The new S-Class (codenamed W223) shares a number of design cues from the recently revealed E-Class facelift. The all LED headlamps with DRLs are similar to the E. The front grille is large with a chrome surround and three thick horizontal slats. The front bumper has aggressive styling. At the rear, there are new wrap around LED tail lamps, again with styling similar to the E-Class facelift. A thick chrome strip runs end to end across the rear above the tail lamps. The rear bumper features two chrome exhaust tips.
The spy shots also include pictures of the interior. The insides of the new S-Class are a break away from the current design language. There is a screen for the digital instrument cluster and 4 slim rectangular AC vents atop the dashboard. A vertical flowing screens dominates the centre console and the new S-Class seems to have put the focus on minimum buttons. The new S-Class will come with the all new MBUX infotainment system, which made its India debut in the GLC facelift. Other highlights include a three spoke flat bottom steering wheel with touch controls and large engine start/stop button.
Shots of the rear reveal twin entertainment screens for the rear passengers, diamond style design for the leather upholstery and a large central arm rest that features touch controls.
The global premier of the new S-Class is slated to take place later this year and it is expected to come with a variety of powertrains including a plug-in hybrid variant. There are media reports suggesting that the new S-Class will come only in the long wheelbase form.
The new S-Class is expected to hit Indian shores sometime in mid or end 2021.
