Jeep India has commenced local production 2021 Jeep Wrangler at the Ranjangaon facility near Pune. The Wrangler is the second Jeep model to roll off the assembly line at the plant. Opening of pre bookings for the Made in India Wrangler has also been announced.
The Wrangler is powered by a 2L turbocharged inline-4 petrol version, that churns out the 268hp and 400 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to an 8 speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Off-roading capabilities of the Jeep Wrangler are imparted by Jeep’s SelecTrac 4WD system that comes with a dedicated high and low driving mode, and two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive conversion with torque vectoring. This works in conjunction with improvements in dimensions and structural support. While the ground clearance has been increased to 215mm, the approach, break-over and departure angles are steep at 41.8, 21 and 36.1 degrees respectively. The car is sprung to gas struts and rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.
So far the CBU variants included the Unlimited and Rubicon. Prices along with the specs and features list of the locally assembled Jeep Wrangler will be revealed on 15th March 2021.
