Hyundai Alcazar Ride, Handling & Safety

Ride quality on the Alcazar is comfortable and this 7 seater SUV rides well. It fairly absorbs the undulations on the road and only the sharp potholes unsettle you a bit. Body roll is controlled and it does manage to hold well, those Apollo Apterra tyres provide excellent grip. The steering feels very light when driving in urban city traffic and weighs up nicely at higher speed. It lacks in outright feel though. High speed stability is excellent.

The safety kit includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, VSM, Hill Start Assist and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Hyundai Alcazar Verdict

The Hyundai Alcazar is offered in three trims; Prestige Platinum and Signature, and what is fantastic is that even the entry level Prestige trim comes with goodies like a panoramic sunroof and LED headlamps. Prices range from Rs. 16.30 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh and though the pricing might sound a little on the higher side at first, that is if you think of it as an extended Creta, it feels justified when you see the kind of equipment that’s on offer. Other strong points include space, practicality, and a good set of engines with automatic options on both. The petrol feels nice to drive and we will be driving the diesel soon. So should you buy the Alcazar? If you look at it as a full time 7 seater, look elsewhere. But if you want a premium well packaged SUV and have limited usage for the third row seating, this one ticks all the boxes. It is an excellent overall package and my choice would be the 6 seater version with the captain seats. Stay tuned and watch this space for the diesel review.
