2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe Engine & Performance
Powering the GLC43 Coupe is the same 3.0 twin turbo V6 petrol that was seen in the pre-facelift version. The difference here is that the motor now makes 390 horsepower while torque remains unchanged at 520 Nm. A nine speed automatic gearbox sends power to all four wheels via the 4Matic all wheel drive system, with a bias of 69 percent going to the rear wheels. You get a bunch of driving modes too and what I really love about the GLC43 is its dual personality. Drive it in Sport mode and a wicked grin is sure to be plastered across your face. Throttle responses are sharp and even the gear shifts are aggressive. And the cherry on the cake is the button that opens the exhaust valves giving you the crackles and pops every time there is an gearshift at the redline. It is so much fun that you tend to forget that you are driving an SUV. The higher driving position is the only thing that will remind you of that. On the other hand, shift to comfort mode and the GLC43 Coupe turns into a docile machine. The exhaust note is muted, engine feels very refined and even the nine speed gearbox shifts up early making it a fantastic daily driver and at excellent cruiser as well. I took it for a relaxed highway drive and it was nicely chugging along in ninth gear at 70 kph.
2020 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe Ride & Handling
The Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe features the AMG Ride Comfort Plus suspension, while the makes the ride fairly compliant in Comfort mode, the stiff setup doesn’t make it all out comfortable. You also have to be careful going over road undulations to avoid damage to the low profile rubber and the 20 inch alloy wheels. That said, it is fun when it comes to putting it through corners. The GLC43 Coupe feels agile and body roll is well controlled. The all wheel drive system provides loads of grip and the steering feels nicely weighted as well.
