The 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport facelift has been launched in India with prices starting at Rs. 57.06 lakh ex showroom. It will be available in two variants, S and R-Dynamic SE.
The updated Discovery Sport is based on the second-gen Evoque’s Premium Transverse Architecture. It measures 4,600 mm in length, 2,069 mm in width, 1,724 mm in height, and has a 2,741 mm wheelbase. Styling wise it gets new front and rear bumpers, updated LED headlamps and tail lamp design and new alloy wheels.
On the interior, it gets a 10.2 inch touch screen for the Touch Pro infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster, Meridian sound system, touch pads for the steering controls and the Clear Sight Rear View Mirror.
The new Discovery Sport comes with BS VI compliant Ingenium petrol and diesel engines. The 2.0 litre petrol P250 comes with a 48v mild hybrid system and develops 245 hp and and 365 Nm torque, while the 2.0 litre diesel D180 makes 177hp and 430Nm of torque. Both engines come mated to a 9 speed automatic gearbox, Deliveries of the diesel models will begin now with the petrol to follow later.
Safety features include six airbags, ABS, ESC, emergency brake assist, roll stability control, a driver fatugue monitor, lane-keep assist and front and rear parking sensors.
Rivals to the Land Rover Discovery Sport include the BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60.
