2020 Hyundai i20 Handling and Ride

There is a noticeable difference in terms of handling compared to the Elite i20. The steering wheel has a nice feel and response to change of direction is more confidence inspiring. It is light at city speeds and weighs up well as you go faster. Outright feedback could have been better though.  The i20 will carry out smoothly, the things it is made for i.e city runs and moving around in thick traffic. However, it gets a tad uncomfortable when thrown around on high speeds and there is noticeable body roll. The tyres lack outright grip and an upgrade will surely make things better.

The suspension of the new i20 is quite compliant though stiffer than the older car. Ride quality is good with regular bumps and undulations absorbed nicely. It is only the bigger bumps and potholes that filter into the cabin. The car feels stable in a straight line at expressway speeds as well.

2020 Hyundai i20 Verdict

The new Hyundai i20 has once again proved to be an all-rounder. The improvements in space, comfort and handling department are surely a big plus. In terms of tech offered, there can’t be any complaints, really. With not many rivals offering the diesel mill, Hyundai has a clear winner on their hands especially the diesel option and the petrol DCT giving the fun to drive factor. Hyundai has raised the bar in each department but at a price. The i20 starts at 6.80 lakh for 1.2 variant, 10.60 lakh for top end Diesel and eyebrow raising 11.18 lakh for 1.0T DCT.  That pricing clearly puts it up against some compact SUVs in the market, including its stable mate the Venue. But if you are looking for a feature loaded hatchback that gives a big car feel, the 2020 Hyundai i20 totally fits the bill. There’s an array of variants to choose from too.
