2020 Hyundai i20 Interior

It’s a tech-fest inside the new i20. Hyundai has always offered the best available features and the story is no different here either. The cabin has an all black theme and our test car had red accents around the cabin. The dashboard has a simple and free-flowing design. There are few horizontal design slats on the dashboard, which might remind you of some yesteryear cars. The quality of some hard plastics could have been better though . Hyundai could have offered soft touch surfaces in places like the door pads considering this is a premium hatchback. The Creta inspired steering wheel looks good and houses the telephony, audio buttons on the left and cruise control on the right. The new i20 also gets an all new digital instrument cluster with a clockwise speedometer and anti-clockwise rpm meter coupled with digital readings of both, as also seen in the Verna. The MID offers not only the usual instant fuel economy, distance to empty but also an individual tyre monitoring system. The infotainment system is controlled by a 10.25 touchscreen that sits on top of the centre console. The system features multi device Bluetooth connectivity, navigation along with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Other features include an electric sunroof, wireless smartphone charging with cooling pad, blue ambient lighting, a 7 speaker BOSE sound system and an Oxyboost air purifier that also comes with an air quality indicator.

The new Hyundai i20 gets connected car tech via Bluelink. It comes packaged with 50 connected features that can be controlled via a smartphone app. The system can be woken up with the voice command Hello Bluelink and also features Over the Air Map updates.

The seats are comfortable and offer enough legroom, shoulder room for those in front as well as in the rear. With driving position set to a person of 5’9” height, there was enough room for the passenger seating behind. Even six footers can sit at the rear without a problem. The backrest of the rear seat also has a good recline angle. The rear seat gets dedicated AC vents, a USB charger and a centre arm rest. The new i20 gets 311 litres of boot space that is up by 26 litres over the previous generation model. It is not the biggest boot out there but enough for those airport runs and weekend trips.

In terms of safety, the new i20 is right up there with 6 Airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Assist Control, Rear Camera with Sensors and overall a stronger body structure.
