Jaguar F-Pace 25t Engine and Performance

The 2.0 Ingenium petrol engine makes 247 horsepower @5500 rpm with peak torque of 365 Nm coming up between 1300-4500rpm. The motor is quick right from the word go and I expected this. There is good low end grunt and a strong mid range punch. It also pulls cleanly to the red line, and at the same time hides the size of this SUV nicely. Jaguar claims a 0 to 100 kph timing of 7 seconds. The eight speed gearbox has superb shifts and is very smooth. Only grouse is that it gets a bit jerky at low speeds and fumbles at sudden throttle inputs. Also there is a slight lag during downshifts. There are driving modes too, four of them. Shift to Dynamic and the dials on the instrument cluster turn red. The throttle response and steering are tweaked for optimum performance. Put it into sport mode and the way this petrol F-Pace pulls will put a big smile on your face. For easy driving there’s the Eco mode as well that adapts to aid fuel efficiency.  The engine sounds nice too and more so when you are driving spiritedly and crossing the 3000rpm mark.

Handling has always been a virtue of the F-Pace. Dynamically it is extremely sorted and also features torque vectoring via braking. It is very agile and body roll is also very well controlled. Steering feedback is sharp too. The ride is a little firm but nothing to complain about. Small bumps are felt at low speeds but ride quality becomes better as speeds increase.
