Mercedes-Benz has revealed the all new A-Class at an event in Amsterdam. The new car features an all new design language along with a set of new engines as well.
On the exterior, the A-Class gets styling cues similar to that on the new CLS. There are flat LED headlamos with chrome elements along with torch like daytime running lamps. The bonnet is sloping and low that gives the hatchback a very sport stance. On the side, there are large wheel arches anlong with a thick C pillar. The rear is also reworked comprehensively and features all new large Led tail lamps, sporty rear bumper and dual exhausts. It gets a longer wheelbase and wider track than its predecessor. It gets 370 litres of boot space, 29 litres more than the older car. The interior of the new A-Class is sure to blow you away. It features an all new free standing display for the instrument cluster and the infotainment system. Customers can choose between either two 7-inch displays (17.78 cm), one 7-inch and one 10.25-inch (26 cm) display or two massive 10.25-inch displays. There is a flat bottom steering wheel along with very uniquely styled AC vents. Other features include 64 colour ambient lighting, head-up display, Car-to-X communication, the Vehicle Tracker and the Mercedes Me app collection.With the A-Class, Mercedes has introduced an all new infotainment system called the MBUX that stands for Mercedes-Benz User Experience. It comprises of a high res touch screen and features intelligent voice control with natural speech recognition, which is activated with the code word “Hey Mercedes”.
Mercedes will offer the A-Class with three engines at launch. The A200 will feature a 1.4 litre four cylinder engine developing 160 horsepower and 250 Nm torque mated to a 7 speed dual clutch auto box or a six speed manual. The A250 will get a four pot 2.0 litre petrol unit putting out 221 horse and 350 Nm. The A180d gets a 1.5 litre engine putting out 114 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. Both the A250 and A180 will initially come only with seven speed dual clutch automatic.
Optional extras include the 4MATI all wheel drive system and choice of suspension with active damping control.
