Lexus NX300h Interior
Open the door and the driver’s seat slides back and the steering wheel tilts upwards. Once you start the car, both move back into the previous set position. While our test car featured a dual tone configuration for the interior, customization options are available to suit your taste. A 10.3 inch screen for the infotainment system sits in the centre of the dash. It is operated via a track pad on the centre console. It is not a touch screen and the system does not get Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. The instrument cluster comprises of LCD screens that display the speedometer and the tachometer (battery charge meter in EV or Eco mode). The three spoke leather wrapped steering feels nice to hold and gets steering controls for audio and phone on the left and the MID navigation on the right. The brushed aluminum paddle shifters have a quality feel to them. The centre console protrudes ahead of the dash and houses an analogue clock just below the AC vents. Silver accents from the top to the bottom of the console. The centre console does feel cluttered because of the number of buttons. The gear lever is on the left side rather than the centre while the right side features the knob for the drive modes and buttons for the EV mode and traction control. There are two large cup holders and a leather pad that opens up to reveal a small mirror. The dual zone climate controls cools the cabin effectively and there is the superb sounding Mark Levinson audio system. The large panoramic glass roof gives a very airy feel to the cabin.
The front seats are very comfortable and feature good side bolstering. They are electrically adjustable and get 3 memory settings. They also get heating and cooling function and we must mention the the cooled seats of the NX are one of the best we have ever experienced. The rear seats are comfortable but only for two. There is adequate leg room and the back rests of the seats can be reclined electrically in the Luxury model. Headroom for taller passengers is an issue due to the sloping roof line. Rear occupants get their own AC vents and the seats are also heated but not cooled. Quite a bummer that, considering our weather conditions. While the boot is technically large, space is compromised because of the high boot floor, reason being the battery pack and the full size spare wheel with alloy wheel are stored below.
