The Santro is back. Hyundai has launched the all new avtaar of the popular hatchback at a starting price of Rs. 3.89 lakh all India ex showroom. The Santro will be available in five trim levels D-Lite, Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta. There will be two CNG variants and two AMT variants respectively. The prices are introductory for the first 50,000 customers.

The new Santro marks a return to the tall boy design that was made famous by Hyundai when the first generation car was launched. It measures 3610 mm in length, is 1645 mm wide and has a height of 1560 mm. The front features a large cascade grille. None of the variant gets alloy wheels but the 14 inch steel wheels come with wheel caps on the higher variants. They also get body coloured bumpers and ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. The new Santro comes in seven exterior colours: silver, white, grey, beige, blue, red and green.

Inside the cabin dual tone interiors are standard while the green coloured variant gets all black interiors. There is a 2.5 inch MID on the instrument cluster. The D-Lite comes only with power steering as standard and without air-conditioning. The Era gets first in segment rear AC vents. The range topping Asta gets a host of features like 7.0 inch touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, reverse camera, rear windshield wiper, steering mounted audio controls and powered ORVMs.

The new Santro is powered by a 1.1 litre four cylinder petrol engine that develops 69 horsepower and 99 Nm of torque while the CNG model makes 59 horsepower and 84 Nm torque. The petrol models come mated to either a 5 speed manual of 5 speed AMT gearbox. The CNG gets only the 5 speed manual.

Safety features include driver’s airbag standard on all variants (Asta gets dual airbags), ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder for driver and fire extinguisher on the CNG model.
