The 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift has been launched at a price of Rs. 5.34 lakh. It comes with with some cosmetic changes and tweaks.
On the exterior, the i20 gets a new one piece front grille along with restyled bumpers. There are projector headlamps with chrome elements and new design alloy wheels. The tailgate is now redesigned with the registration plate moving from the rear bumper to the boot. There are redesigned tail lamps and black inserts in the rear bumper.On the inside, the i20 gets a new 7.0 inch touch screen for the infotainment system that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with Mirror Link. It also gets the Auto Link that transmits multiple info related to the car to a linked mobile phone.
Mechanically the i20 remains identical to the outgoing model. It is still powered by a 1.2 litre petrol engine developing 83 horsepower and a 1.4 diesel putting out 90 horsepower. Both engines are mated to a 5 speed manual and 6 speed manual respectively. However Hyundai will be introducing a CVT automatic gearbox with the 1.2 petrol. The earlier i20 automatic feature a 1.4 litre petrol mated to a four speed torque converter box and has now been discontinued.
Safety features include dual airbags with ABS and EBD. The top end variants get six airbags and a reversing camera.
