The all new third generation BMW X3 has been revealed ahead of its international debut later this year. The new model is larger and lighter than its predecessor.
2018 BMW X3 Exterior
The new BMW X3 measures4,716mm in length, 1,897mm in width and 1,676mm in height.It is 61mm longer, 17mm wider and 16mm higher than th outgoing model. The wheelbase is also longer by 54mm. The new model is based on BMW’s Cluster Architecture (CLAR) platform. The use of light weight materials and alloy along with aluminium has helped reduce the kerb weight of the new X3 by 55 kg. On the exterior, the new X3 gets new LED headlamps along with a restyled kidney front grille. There is a flat contoured bonnet and new LED tail lamps as well. Additionally it gets new large alloy wheels,under body cladding a roof spoiler.
2018 BMW X3 Interior
On the interior, the new X3 gets a 5 series inspired dashboard. There is a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.2 inch free standing colour screen for the iDrive system which features voice recognition and gesture control. The rear gets 20 mm more legroom and a height increase of 20 mm.
2018 BMW X3 Engines
The new X3 will come with a range of petrol and diesel engines. On offer will be a 2.0 litre four cylinder diesel making 190 horsepower in the 20d, a 3.0 litre straight six cylinder diesel putting out 265 horsepower in the 30d and a 2.0 litre petrol engine that will develop 184 horses in the 20i and 251 horses in the 30i.The new X3 will also come in a range topping M40i variant that will feature a 3.0 litre inline six cylinder petrol engine developing 360 horsepower and 500 Nm of maximum torque. The engine will be mated to an eight speed automatic gearbox and will get BMW’s xDrive all wheel drive system.
The new BMW X3 is expected to hit Indian shores sometime next year.
