The 2017 Maruti Dzire has been launched in India at prices starting at Rs. 5.45 lakh for the base Lxi petrol model to Rs. 9.41 lakh for the top end Zdi automatic variant ex showroom Delhi. This is the third generation of Maruti’s compact sedan.

2017 Maruti Dzire Exterior

The 2017 Maruti Dzire is based on the company’s new ‘Heartect’ platform. This new platform uses high tensile steel that results in weight saving and better performance.

The 2017  Dzire is by far the best looking of the lot and doesnt look like just another sub four metre compact sedan. The bonnet has a nice and smooth flow to it with well designed fenders. The headlights and front grille have been carried over from the new Swift. There is lots of chrome too which is a favourite with Indian buyers. The rear also looks nicely integrated with the rest of the car. The new DZire is 40 mm wider than the outgoing model.

The interior features an all new dashboard with lots of elements carried over from the new Swift hatchback. It gets a dual tone finish of black and beige which looks upmarket. The AC vents are wedge shaped and have a nice design to them. There is a new flat bottom steering wheel which gets faux wood treatment. Space is also more at the rear because of an increased wheel base that is 2,450 mm.

2017 Maruti Dzire Engine Specifications

Maruti has carried forward the engines from the previous gen Dzire into the new one. The engines are the 1.2 litre K Series petrol developing 83 horsepower and the 75 horsepower 1.3 litre DDIS diesel unit.  Both engines are mated to a five speed manual gearbox while an AMT box is available as an option.

The new Maruti Dzire comes in a total of 8 variants. While the previous two generations saw the Swift being launched prior to the Dzire compact sedan, this time the Swift will be launched at a later date.

Rivals of the new Maruti Dzire include the facelifted Hyundai Xcent, the Honda Amaze, the Ford Aspire, the Volkswagen Ameo and the Tata Zest.
