jeep-compass-indiaThe 2017 Jeep Compass was revealed globally recently and it will be the first product from Jeep that will be locally made in India. Autocar India magazine has now got hold of a spy photo of the Jeep Compass testing on Indian roads in full camouflage.

The Jeep Compass looks like a smaller version of its bigger sibling, the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It features a dual tone exterior, a slimmer grille with tapering headlights, squared wheel arches, large alloy wheels and LED tail lamps.

The Compass is expected to be powered by a localised 2.0 litre Fiat Multijet engine. The new SUV will be produced at Fiat’s plant in Ranjangaon plant near Pune.  The Compass is expected to come with a host of features including the U-Connect Infotainment system, climate control and push button start. A seven seat option is also expected.

The Compass will be offered in four trims globally: Sport, Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk. The Trailhawk will be the hardcore off-roader variant , with  20mm raised ride height, different tyres and additional under body protection.

Production of the Jeep Compass has already begun at Jeep’s Assembly Plant in Goiana, Pernambuco, Brazil.

Jeep officially launched in India last month with three models: The Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. All three SUVS are sold in India as fully imported CBUs. The Jeep Compass will however come with a lower price tag thanks to local assembly. A well specd version is expected to be priced at around Rs. 20 lakhs. The Jeep Compass should go on sale in India next year.
