2017 Jeep Compass Verdict
So, has the Compass been worth the wait? Well, it has a lot going for it. It has a very capable diesel engine, ride quality is fantastic, has good road manners and is very capable off-road. It’s built well and has loads of presence. The interior is good too but it lacks the outright finesse of its rivals. Plus Jeep has skipped on some essential equipment as well. Also we are not sure if Jeep has done the right thing by not offering a diesel automatic at launch, considering in today’ s times it is what buyers are looking for in this segment. But at a starting price of Rs. 14.95 lakh for the entry level Sport trim, Jeep has knocked it right out of the park. Even the top end Limited (O) that we drove for this review at Rs. 20.65 lakh ex showroom hits the sweet spot. Competition should be worried and this could be just the SUV you’ve been waiting for.
