The new India bound Jeep Compass has been officially revealed. Production of the new model has already begun at Jeep’s Assembly Plant in Goiana, Pernambuco, Brazil.
Jeep calls the compass a truly global all-new compact SUV, and will be produced with 17 fuel-efficient powertrain options for consumers in more than 100 countries around the world.The Jeep Compass looks like a smaller version of its bigger sibling, the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It features a dual tone exterior, a slimmer grille with tapering headlights, squared wheel arches, large alloy wheels and LED tail lamps.
The Jeep Compass is expected to be powered by a localised 2.0 litre Fiat Multijet engine.The new SUV will be produced at Fiat’s plant in Ranjangaon plant near Pune. The Compass is expected to come with a host of features including the U-Connect Infotainment system, climate control and push button start. A seven seat option is also expected.Jeep officially launched in India last month with three models: The Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. All three SUVS are sold in India as fully imported CBUs. The Jeep Compass will however come with a lower price tag thanks to local assembly. A well specd version is expected to be priced at around Rs. 17 lakhs. The Jeep Compass should go on sale in India next year.
