Toyota has organised a 4×4 Boot Camp Experience event for the new Fortuner SUV that was launched earlier this month. The Boot Cam is being held simultaneously in three Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. We checked out the event held at Film City in Mumbai.
The Toyota Fortuner 4×4 Boot Camp showcases the off-road capabilities of the new SUV. The cars of most owners will rarely go off the the tarmac, let alone do any kind of extreme off-roading. The track was custom built by Off-Road Junkie a professional off-roading group who also specialize in imparting off-road training. The event began with a product briefing on the new Toyota Fortuner followed by a safety briefing for the participants. This was followed by a short drive around a small track outside the welcome lounge area. One part of this track showcases the wheel articulation of the SUV. We were then taken to a separate track away from the main lounge area for a litte more challenging off-road action. The first obstacle was a steep decline showcasing Hill Descent Control. Best way to tackle this is to activate 4 low range. It is important to note that the Fortuner should be in Neutral to activate this model. One can shift from 2H to 4H or vice versa on the go.
