Volvo V90 Cross Country Interior

The V90 Cross Country interior is similar to that of the S90. But instead of the all beige theme, the grey dashboard looks rather nice. Then you have aluminum mesh inserts in place of the wooden ones that add a sporty touch.  Build quality is top notch and everything has a premium feel to it. The vertical AC vents get nicely carved round knobs for adjustment; the digital instrument cluster is very pleasing to the eyes. The steering wheel gets paddle shifters but comes with manual adjust for rake and reach. The centre of the dash is occupied by the 9 inch touch screen (Sensus) to control every function in the cabin at the swipe of a finger. While it is convenient to use, it is a quite a finger print magnet. Also toggling between the various screens could lead to the driver taking his eyes off the road. Volvo is offering the V90 Cross Country in a single fully loaded Inscription trim. That means nothing has been left for the options list. The 19 speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system is the best we’ve heard and every music note is crystal clear even at high volumes. It was the perfect companion on our long drive to Coorg. Other standard equipment includes four zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, Heads Up display, Park Assist Pilot and 360 degree camera with front and rear sensors and electrically operated tail gate including hand free tail gate operation. Volvo has always designed seats with consultation from orthopedic surgeons and that’s the case in the V90 Cross Country as well. The front seats are superbly contoured and are very comfortable, have excellent cushioning and are ventilated along with massage function. The front seats can be electrically adjusted for lumbar and thigh support as well. The rear is good too with a well designed bench. There’s ample knee room and loads of headroom thanks to the high roofline.  However the seat base is short which results in lack of under thigh support. The transmission tunnel is very high too which makes the rear best suited for two, unless you are ready for quite bit of ‘kindly adjust’. What you get in this car though is a lot of real estate (pun intended), 560 litres of it. Drop down the electrically foldable rear seats and that goes up to a humongous 1,526 litres. An 18 inch spare wheel is tucked away in the boot floor.
