Toyota Urban Cruiser Engine & Performance
Just like the Vitara Brezza, the Urban Cruiser is powered by the same 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine putting out 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. Gearbox options include a 5 speed manual and a 4 speed torque converter automatic. That’s right, a 4 speed old school auto box. But before you scroll your eyes up, let me tell you that it works well in daily city or should I say urban (pun intended) traffic scenarios. The engine is refined and silent and power build up is very linear and smooth. The gearshifts are smooth and relaxed, but nowhere near DSG quick. It also gets a mild hybrid system with auto start stop that aids in fuel efficiency. On the highway, the engine gets noisy after 100 kph and starts losing steam. That’s where you wish you had more gear ratios in the automatic gearbox. But if your commute is majorly in and around the city, there will be no reason to complain.
