Japanese car maker Toyota has announced that it will be hiking prices across the model range with effect from January 1, 2019.
The reason for the price hike is given to be the rise in manufacturing costs. The depreciating rupee ha been cited as another factor. Toyota says that it has been absorbing the extra costs all this while to protect the customers, but now due to increased pressure, will have to pass the extra cost to the customers from January.
The price hike will affect the entire Toyota lineup that includes the Yaris, Innova Crysta, Fortuner, Etios, Etios Liva, Corolla Altis, Camry, Prado, Land Cruiser and the Prius.
As is the norm, other manufacturers are expected to follow suit and announce price hikes for their cars.
