Toyota has taken the wraps off a new model called the Corolla Cross. As the name suggests, it is a crossover based on the Corolla sedan and will go on sale soon, starting with the ASEAN countries and later in other global markets.
The Toyota Corolla Cross is built on Toyota’s TNGA platform. As far as dimensions go, it is 4,460mm long, 1,825mm wide and 1,620mm tall. It gets a large single frame black grille flanked by slim headlamps and LED DRLs. It gets black bumpers, side skirts and skid plates to give the crossover look.
The interior is similar to the Suzuki ACross SUV that was revealed recently. The photos show red leather upholstery and a touch screen infotainment system.
The Toyota Corolla Cross will come with two engine options. There will be a 1.8 litre petrol engine developing 140 hp and 175 Nm of torque mated to a CVT gearbox and a petrol hybrid with 98 hp from a 1.8 litre petrol engine combined with a 72 hp electric motor mated to an e-CVT transmission.
It remains to be seen if Toyota brings the Corolla Cross to India.
