The monsoon is always a welcome after the summer with the rain showers bring much relief to all of of us. However this season also brings with it, bad roads, potholes, floods and everything that can take a toll on your car. To ensure that your prized possession sees off the wet days smoothly, we bring you a few tips to keep your vehicle in top shape.

Monsoon tips: Tyres

We believe tyres are the most important part of the car and hence should be the first on checklist. Are new tyres due after couple of thousand kilometres? Change them now! It’s always best to see the monsoon through with adequate tread depth. Tyres with less tread are prone to aquaplaning. An old tyre is not able to cut through water due to less tread and allows a layer of water to build between road and tyre. resulting in no traction and eventually a mishap. Check all 5 tyres including the spare. Make sure you maintain recommended tyre pressure so tyres make maximum contact with the road. Get your wheel alignment a check as well.

Quick Shifts:  Check your car’s wiper blades and motor. We recommend using new set of wiper blades every monsoon as the rubber tends to crack due to less usage during rest of the year. Top up the washer fluid as well.

Monsoon tips: Electricals

Make sure all electrical wires and connections are in order. Check headlights, headlight alignment and tail lights. Drive with your headlights and fog lamps on in case of heavy downpour. Avoid using hazard lights in a moving car, as it becomes difficult to distinguish between a stationary car and a car on the move.

Quick Shifts: If your car service is due a month or two down the line after the monsoon sets in, get it done earlier.  This ensures a thorough checkup at the hands of professionals. You could also opt for the pre monsoon checks offered by various car manufacturers.
