Tata Motors has announced that the new Harrier SUV will launch on January 23, 2019. Bookings for the SUV commenced recently.
The Harrier comes with a 2.0 litre four cylinder diesel engine that develops 140 horsepower and comes mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox that powers the front wheels. It features a Land Rover style Terrain Response controller with multiple modes: Normal, Wet and Rough. It also comes with Tata Multi Drive 2.0 that features Eco, City and sport driving modes.
Features on the Tata Harrier include an 8.8 inch touch screen infotainment system and a 7.0 inch display in the instrument cluster. Other goodies also include a JBL sound system, 17 inch alloy wheels, puddle lamps etc. The Tata Harrier misses out on a sunroof.
Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, hill-hold and hill descent control, a roll-over mitigation system and hydraulic brake assist and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
The Tata Harrier will b available in four variants: XE, XM, XT and XZ. It will rival the Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Compass in the Indian market. A seven seater version is expected sometime late 2019.
