The all new 2019 BMW 3-Series has been spied in India and we have some exclusive pictures of the car from an undisclosed location. The new BMW 3-Series is expected launch in India mid 2019 and is currently going ARAI testing and homologation. A big shout out to Throttle Blips fan Kartik Singh for sending these pictures to us.
The new 3-Series was revealed at the 2018 Paris Motor Show earlier this year. It is based on BMW’s Cluster Architecture (CL AR) that also underpins the 7-Series and 5-series sedans. It is therefore larger than the previous car. It is also 55 kg lighter and the wheelbase is longer by 41mm.
On the exterior, the new 3-Series gets a larger kidney grille with wraparound LED headlamps. At the rear, the car gets new and larger LED tail lamps and twin exhaust pipes. The Indian spec model can be expected with 18 inch alloy wheels. If you look at the spy shots, the front bumper gets aggressive styling with a large central air dam and small fog lamps on either side. The sporty bumper and alloy wheels suggest that this could be an M-Sport variant.
The new 3-Series gets an all new interior. There is an 8.8 inch screen for the infotainment system and the new 3 gets the latest version of the iDrive. Standard features include three zone climate control, reverse camera, puddle lamps. The driver will also be able to toggle between an analogue speedo and tachometer and a digital display. It can also be toggled to show the sat nav on the instrument cluster, something similar to Audi’s Virtual Cockpit.
As far as engines are concerned, India will get the 320d powered by a 2.0 litre diesel engine good for 190 horsepower, A 320i featuring a 2.0 litre four cylinder petrol motor putting out 184 horsepower and a range topping 330i powered by a 2.0 litre turbo petrol developing 258 horses.
Once launched, the new BMW 3-Series will rival the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Jaguar XE and the Volvo S60 in the Indian market.
