British automaker Morris Garages recently disclosed plans to bring its Maxus D90 SUV to the Indian car market.

The Maxus SUV is a seven-seater +5-meter SUV built on a light truck platform. The engine is a 2.0-litre petrol setup making 224 hp and 360 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox that is available in both manual and automatic versions. It features all-wheel drive with a low range transfer case and seven driving modes to choose from, making it a capable offroader.

The car has humongous proportions as is evident by 5,005mm length,1,932mm width,1,875mm height, 2,950mm wheelbase and 210mm of ground clearance. In terms of features, the car comes with a 12.3-inch touch enabled infotainment module, panoramic sunroof, 3-zone climate control and more. While the India-going version will get equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD and EPS and Isofix; it is uncertain if internationally available features such as automatic parking and lane assistance will be included.

The Maxus D90 will be inherited from SAIL’s (parent company of MG motors) portfolio and likely be priced in the INR 30-35 lakh range, putting it up against incumbents like the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
