With the official launch of the Hector today, Morris Garages’ India touchdown is now complete. The top brass of the company recently revealed the commercial side of owning the MG Hector, touching on important points such as prices, warranty and buyback in significant detail.
The mid-size SUV is available in four powertrain options spanning across 4 variants, namely Style, Super, Smart and Sharp; Sharp being the top of the line. The powertrain options include a Petrol Manual, Petrol Manual with mild hybrid, Petrol Dual Clutch Transmission and a Diesel Manual to choose from.
Ownership of an MG Hector comes with the MG Shield, which is an ownership assurance program comprising of warranty, services and roadside assistance amongst other things. For private owners, the car comes with a 5 years / unlimited kilometres warranty and roadside assistance along with 5 labour free services. However, the clause for unlimited kilometres gets reduced to 1,50,000 km for commercial purchase. The car also comes with MG protect plans that start Rs. 8000 onwards.
MG claims to have best-in-class ownership with Rs. 0.45/km for petrol and Rs 0.49/km for diesel with an assured 60% buyback after three years if one chooses to sell the car through CarDekho, an online used car platform.
Another radical scheme is the MG Subscribe scheme, wherein customers not wishing to buy the car can have it on a use-and-return basis for a minimum tenure of 6 months. While this scheme is currently available only in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, it is expected to increase footprint in the coming times.
