The MG Gloster SUV has been launched in India at prices starting at Rs. 28.9 lakh ex showroom Delhi. The Gloster was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 earlier this year and is the car maker’s flag ship model for India.
The MG Gloster is offered in four variants: Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. The entry level Super comes in only a seven seat configuration with a second row bench seat. Features include 12.3 inch touch screen infotainment, auto headlamps and wipers, six airbags, ESP, traction control, hill hold, cruise control etc.
The Smart variant gets MG’s ‘i-Smart’ connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 3 zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters, powered driver’s seat, sunroof etc. This variant also comes only in a 6 seat config.
The Sharp variant is offered in six or seven seat config with a captain seats in the middle row for the six seat variant. Additional features include panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated driver’s seat, massage and memory function, 12 speaker sound system 360-degree parking cameras, blind spot monitoring system etc.
The range topping Savvy variant. comes only in a six seater config. Features here include ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) that comprise of forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, hands free parking, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.
The MG Gloster is powered by two diesel options. The first is a 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo diesel engine that puts out 163 hp and 375 Nm of torque. This motor is only available in the Super and Smart variants.
The second option is a twin turbo version of the same 2.0 litre diesel engine. Here it develops 218 hp and 480 Nm torque. This also comes with drive modes and four wheel drive.
Both engines are mated to an eight speed automatic gearbox.
The MG Gloster rivals the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Mahindra Alturas G4 in the Indian market.
