Mercedes-Benz has launched two new variants of the GLE LWB in India. The GLE450 4Matic LWB is priced at Rs. 88.80 lakh while the GLE400d 4Matic LWB comes at Rs. 89.90 lakh (ex showroom except Kerela). The current lineup comprised of the GLE300d and the CBU GLE400d Hip Hop Edition. Both new variants will be locally produced at the Chakan plant in Pune.
The GLE450 comes with a 3.0 litre in line six cylinder petrol engine putting out 367 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The EQ Boost feature adds an addition 22 hp and 250 Nm for a short period of time. It goes from 0 to 100 kph in 5.7 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kph. The GLE400 gets a 3.0 six cylinder diesel engine good for 330 hp and 700 Nm of torque. It goes from 0 to 100 kph in 5.7 seconds and has a top speed of 245 kph. Both engines come mated to the 9G Tronic automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels. The Active suspension is only available on the CBU variant of the GLE400d.
The feature list includes Multibeam LED headlamps, 20 inch multispoke alloy wheels, 4 zone Thermotronic climate control, panoramic sunroof, MBUX infotainment system, Auto Park Assist with 360 degree camera, wireless charing (front), electric sunblinds, hard disk navigation, smartphone integration etc.
Safety features include 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, Active Brake Assist and Blind Spot Assist as standard.
Maintenance service packages for the new GLE450 start Rs. 77,600 for 2 years/unlimited kms and for GLE400d at Rs. 89,100 for 2 years/unlimited kms.
