Mercedes-Benz India has reached a historic milestone in their journey in the country. The luxury car maker has rolled out the 1,00,000th locally assembled car from the Chakan plant at Pune. The car, an E-Class was rolled off the assembly line by Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India and Piyush Arora, Executive Director, Operations, Mercedes-Benz India. The first ever car to roll out in India way back in 1995 from the Pimpri plant was also an E-Class, the class W124 saloon. Here’s a look at some key milestones:

- 1995: First locally made E-Class rolls-out of assembly line
- 2008: Mercedes-Benz rolls-out its 20,000 cars in India
- 2010: Roll-out of 30,000 cars from the Chakan manufacturing facility
- 2014: 50,000th Mercedes-Benz rolls out of the assembly lines in Chakan
- 2018: 100,000th Mercedes-Benz rolls-out of the assembly line in Chakan near Pune
The current Chakan plant near Pune has been built with an investment of INR 1000+ crores, and the facility is spread over 100 acres and is part of Mercedes-Benz’s Global Production Network.
Mercedes-Benz India currently assembles 9 models locally. These include the CLA, GLA; C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, sedans and the GLC, GLE, GLS SUVs and also Mercedes-Maybach S 560.
